Route standing-desk cables before raising the desk.

A cable that reaches while you are sitting may pull tight halfway up.

Map what moves

A monitor and keyboard on the desktop move with the desk. A wall outlet stays still. A tower may do either, depending on its mount. Draw those groups before attaching anything. The cables crossing between them need enough slack for the full travel.

Test the range slowly

Clear obstacles and check the manufacturer’s load and installation guidance. With another person watching if helpful, move the desk gradually through its range. Stop if a cable tightens, catches, or pulls at a connector. Never use the lift mechanism to find out which cable is too short.

Leave a service loop

Allow a gentle loop where a cable crosses from the moving desk to a fixed point. Keep it clear of the frame and moving joints. Fasten cables loosely enough to avoid pinching. Leave access to plugs you may need to disconnect instead of bundling everything into one permanent knot.

Recheck accessories together

A monitor arm, drawer, mic clamp, and PC bracket may all fit separately yet compete for the same space. Check clamp positions and legroom before drilling or tightening mounts. Repeat the full travel test after adding equipment; the new power lead can change the whole route.
